Enjoy peaceful, relaxed and informative tastings overlooking the vines with the owner, David Iggulden.
All the grapes for our wine are grown on site thus the wines show the terroir where they are tasted. We do not blend to a house style but let the individual vintages speak for themselves. This results in unique wines each year. You will want to keep returning so you can enjoy each new vintage.
As a treat, we often have library wines to taste.
Wairarapa is a region of big skies, wide valleys and small towns full of character at the heart of the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail.
Hamden Estate is located on the Dry River Terraces of Martinborough and is a family-run vineyard.
Authentic, unbiased opinion on the most interesting, current wines in Australia and New Zealand. We are humbled to say our Riesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc have been named in Bob Campbell’s top value wines.
The vineyard is approximately six kilometres south of Martinborough. From its elevated site on the Dry River Terraces, it has spectacular views to the Tararua Ranges. The Dry River area has historic significance; the Dry River Station, part of which the vineyard now stands on, was one of the first sheep stations farmed in the Wairarapa.
Cottage accommodation is available on site at the vineyard. A fully self-contained two-bedroom cottage offers vineyard and sunset views in a quiet rural setting. Please contact your hosts directly to check availability or go to Airbnb https://airbnb.com/h/hamdenestatecottage.
